Kate Savage is also the organizer of Arts Connect of Lexington Ky. The interview is in relation to the Art Center of the Bluegrass’ “The Art of Being Black: Conversation and Experience” art show.
Tearing Down the Walls Together Project Louisville, KY
03/2020 Organized by GEDDI. A Collaboration between local artist and The Fund for the Arts, GEDDI, The Healing Walls Project, Greater Louisville Inc. and Louisville Downtown Partnership. The 4’x 8’ plywood boards that once boarded the city’s downtown business windows and doors during a season of protest of the racial injustices to Black Americans were turned to works of art to encourage healing and renewal throughout the city. Local artist were commissioned to paint the boards which were hung throughout the city for 28 days and later auctioned to interested individuals and business. My work was purchased by a local church.
